SUMMARY:SOM- "Braiding Sweet Grass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer - Thurs 6pm
DESCRIPTION:Starting June 19th \n\n\n\n\n\nIn Braiding Sweetgrass\, Robin Wall Kimmerer draws upon Indigenous wisdom and environmental science to explore humanity’s reciprocal relationship with nature. The author recounts sacred creation stories and rituals—such as the Skywoman Falling myth and the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address—that center gratitude\, kinship\, and reciprocity as guiding principles for sustainability. \nKimmerer argues that the path forward lies in integrating traditional ecological knowledge with scientific methods. The practices of sustainable harvests\, listening to “plant languages\,” and heeding the Windigo myth’s warnings against overconsumption offer a pathway to restoring balance between humans and the natural world. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis group meets on Zoom from 6 – 7pm.\n\n\n\n\n\nCathy Riggsbee and Kathleen Wood will be heading up the SOM discussion group. \nContact Cathy at 828-550-3812 for more information. \n

SUMMARY:Sunday Message - Hal Breakey "Thought Forms of Faith\, Fear & Possession"
DESCRIPTION:Spiritual Message: Hal Breakey “Thought Forms of Faith\, Fear & Possession”\nHumanity’s relationship to the mystery of the unknown can take many forms. Thought Forms\, like shapeshifting ghosts\, can direct the imagination into uncharted realms of both fear and fantasy. Conscious and unconscious imaginings cause physiological and psychological changes to occur\, leading to many unexpected life outcomes for those lacking understanding. In this presentation Dr. Pumpkin Head  will explore the supernatural world of living energy fields and spiritual entities. Tulpas\, Survitors\, Golems\, Domestic Spirits that manifest our heart desires for good or ill will be discussed. This talk will also cover the world of Egregores and Hyper objects\, which are cultural energy fields that may take on a life of their own seeking power and world domination. As people of Light and Love\, the presentation will conclude with how we might best live and communicate in a world fraught with such spiritual dangers and opportunities. \nTrustee: Kim Walzer…\nGreeter: Nancy Bauman…\nTechnical: Justin Elledge…\n10:30 am : Meditation: Justin Elledge…\nPractitioner: Joan Doyle...\nTao of Wow: Kim Walzer..\n \nDr. Breakey is a Pastoral Psychologist and ordained minister with over 30 years’ experience in counseling and human services.  He has successfully applied his training and wisdom in roles with the Air Force Academy\, as a Hospital Palliative Care and Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor\, in an innovative program  with the Florida Metropolitan University\, and in his own private practice.   \n

SUMMARY:SOM- "Braiding Sweet Grass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer - Thurs 6pm
DESCRIPTION:Starting June 19th \n\n\n\n\n\nIn Braiding Sweetgrass\, Robin Wall Kimmerer draws upon Indigenous wisdom and environmental science to explore humanity’s reciprocal relationship with nature. SUMMARY:"TRANSCENDENCE" Movie Night - Friday at 7:00pm
DESCRIPTION:  \nEpisode 1 – 42 minutes – Friday\, September 26 @ CTC \nWhat’s In Our Food? \nCould the first step to changing your life be as simple as what you put in your mouth? Should you eliminate gluten? How can you heal the gut and autoimmune conditions naturally? What’s the best diet for long-term health and vitality? \nIn this episode we’ll begin by taking a closer look at the evolution of our modern diet and\, in particular\, how our quest for the perfect\, durable crop has resulted in a distorted version of a once-humble grain. But wheat and gluten can’t be all to blame. It is the culmination of what we eat and the way we eat in the 21st century that has really led us astray. \nWe’ll also dive deep into the role of the gut in terms of overall health and its impact on the explosion of autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis\, Crohn’s\, fibromyalgia\, and celiac disease. Plus\, witness how a young boy from war-torn Serbia went on to become one of the world’s greatest tennis players\, simply through changing what he fueled his body with. \n\n\n\n\npresented by Randy Outland

SUMMARY:Fall Equinox Drum Circle - Donna Corso 4:00 - 5:00pm
DESCRIPTION:Drum Your Way to Health \nAn Equinox Tradition at CTC \nJoin Donna as we celebrate Mother Earth & the Fall Equinox. We will begin by honoring the six directions followed by a drum circle. Please bring your drums\, rattles\, tambourines\, didgeridoos\, flutes\, or any kind of percussion instruments. Let’s welcome in Autumn! \nIf you thought beating on a drum was just making noise\, think again! It’s been shown that there are many positive health benefits to drumming\, not the least of which is stress reduction.  Drumming releases endorphins in the brain which has been shown to help control chronic pain and create a general feeling of well-being. \nDrumming can even help with fatigue\, anxiety\, asthma\, arthritis\, mental illness\, addiction\, depression\, and more. It can boost your immune system\, increase natural T-cells which can help the body combat viruses\, even cancer. \nDrumming also creates a deeper sense of connectedness with your own Spirit and with other like-minded people. As you flow with the Rhythm of Life by simply feeling the beat\, it helps align your body and mind with the Natural World\, helping to release negative emotions which can form energy blocks. Shamans use drumming as a way to access a higher power and to integrate mind\, body and spirit. \nReady to try it? All are welcome to our quarterly Drum Circle at the Creative Thought Center (449 Pigeon St. Waynesville) every Equinox and Solstice. Bring your drum\, rattle\, or percussion instrument.  No drum? Come anyway and feel the beat! \nFor information call Donna Corso 828-246-0279.
